No eye has seen, no ear has heard, and no mind has conceived

The Bible states that “No eye has seen, no ear has heard and no mind has conceived the things that God has prepared for those that love him.” I’ve heard this quoted many many times. Often in reference to heaven or some future life that is so good that we can’t even image it.  But the truth is, this mystery is not so mysterious at all. It’s been answered in the text before and after this common quote.    First notice that it’s all written in past tense: No eye has seen, no ear has heard.  Now, let’s read the whole verse: 1 Corinthians 2:9 “But as it is written, Eye has not seen, nor ear heard, neither has entered into the heart of man, the things which God has prepared for them that love him.” Notice it starts with “But” some translations use “Therefore” So this means we need to look back to see what the “Therefore” is there for.   So let’s read the whole thing: (NKJV) 1 Corinthians 2:1, And I, brethren, when I came to you, did not come wit...

Translating the Lord’s Prayer directly from the Greek

Normally this is what we think of when we read or say the Lords Prayer. NIV : Matt 6: 9 Our Father in heaven, hallowed be your name, 10  your kingdom come, your will be done,      on earth as it is in heaven. 11  Give us today our daily bread. 12  And forgive us our debts,      as we also have forgiven our debtors. 13  And lead us not into temptation,      but deliver us from the evil one. But did you ever wonder what the original words were? Well here they are:   Matthew 6:9 ·         Πάτερ ( Father [ancestor, elder, senior] - masculine) ἡμῶν ( our, of us ) ὁ ( which [is] ) ἐν ( in ) τοῖς ( the ) οὐρανοῖς ( heaven, heavens ) ·         ἁγιασθήτω ( Holy, Hallowed ) τὸ ( the ) ὄνομά ( name [reputation, character, His presence] ) σου ( your, of you ) Matthew 6:10 ·        ...

What does the term 3-in-1 God mean?

Image
The Terms Godhead, Trinity, Triune God, and Three-in-one are not in the Bible. Yet, the Bible refers to three separate parts or beings or people and God calls himself one, so we have a bit of a mystery. Luke 3:21-22 . When all the people were being baptized, Jesus was baptized too. And as he was praying, heaven was opened 22 and the Holy Spirit descended on him in bodily form like a dove. And a voice came from heaven: “You are my Son, whom I love; with you I am well pleased.” Here the Holy Spirit descended, God spoke from Heaven, and Jesus was on earth. All three Gods were physically separate at this point in time. Yet, all three call themselves ONE. This truth has proven itself to be difficult if not impossible for humans to understand.  Think of the biblical reference: and the two shall become one flesh; so they are no longer two, but one flesh Mark 10:8 Genesis 2:24 , Matt 19:5 Everyone can understand that when two people get married, they are still two people. ...
