What is God?





What is God?  A Biblical search of the term “God is” returns hundreds of listings. I've put together a list of what God says he is. When reading the bible, God refers to himself with words other than “God is” but this list does not include any of those references.
 
God is love, 1 John 4:8, 1 John 4:16

God is a solid rock, 2 Samuel 22:32, Psalm 18:31

God is the eternal Rock, Isaiah 26:4

God is holy! Psalm 99:9
 
God is light, 1 John 1:5

God is a devouring fire, a jealous God. Deuteronomy 4:24, Hebrews 12:29

God is faithful, 1 Corinthians 10:13

God is all-powerful. Job 36:22.

God called himself “I am”

God is the God of gods.

God is my strong fortress. 2 Samuel 22:33

God is not a man so he does not lie. He is not human, so he does not change his mind. Numbers 23:19

God is near to us whenever we call on him Deuteronomy 4:7

God is a merciful God; he will not abandon you or destroy you. Deuteronomy4:31

God is a giving God.

God is gracious and merciful. 2 Chronicles 30:9

God is so wise and so mighty. Job 9:4

God is the supreme God of the heavens above and the earth below Joshua 2:11

God is Sovereign. I counted "sovereign" 291 times in the Bible.

Was Satan in charge of music in Heaven?

That thinking appears to be taught in many parts of the Christian community. The teaching comes from a verse in the Kings James and New KJ Version of the bible.  Ezekiel 28:13 says: You were in Eden, the garden of God; Every precious stone was your covering: The sardius, topaz, and diamond, Beryl, onyx, and jasper, Sapphire, turquoise, and emerald with gold. The workmanship of your timbrels and pipes was prepared for you on the day you were created. The verse starts with someone in the garden. The bible is talking about the “prince of Tyre”, though it doesn’t say it, many Christian teachers say this represents Satan in the Garden. And if it’s really Satan, then this must further point to him having all this jewelry, and since it says he had timbrels and pipes, he must be involved with music.   Note, the words: “timbrels and pipes”.
